They’ve got our back

Last week marked a milestone in the history of Plinky with the closing of our first round of financing. Om Malik wrote about our financing on Gigaom a few weeks ago before the round had formally closed so I wanted to introduce a few more of our backers.

We eventually accepted $1.6M in total from Polaris Venture Partners as well as insightful social software pals Jeff Clavier of SoftTech VC and Mike Jones of Userplane/AOL. We are happy to have them on board and look forward to working with them as Plinky takes shape.

Ryan Freitas joins Plinky

Today we are excited to announce that Ryan Freitas will be joining Plinky as Director of Product Design.

As VentureBeat says about Ryan:

“If you don’t know the name, you know the work.”

During his last three years at the top-notch user experience consultancy Adaptive Path, he had a hand in Plazes (just acquired by Nokia), Sphere (acquired by AOL) and many more. Over the last nine months Ryan spent the majority of his time on a complete overhaul and redesign of MySpace that is receiving rave reviews.

Ryan’s history of putting the user first in his product designs and delivering engaging experiences has us stoked to have him as a key member of the team. Welcome aboard Ryan!

PS: If you would like to work for Plinky too, we are looking for a great mid/senior software engineer/tech lead (CMS experience is a plus) and an AJAX/Javascript developer (PHP/Ruby experience is a plus). We have great benefits, a fun-small team, near BART in the East Bay (25 min from SF) and like to build exciting products. Please drop us a line at jobs@plinky.com if you want to find out more.
